Survalent Technology Commissions New SCADA System for Taylor Electric Cooperative

MISSISSAUGA, ON — August 18, 2010 — Survalent Technology, the most trusted provider of core smart grid solutions to utilities, announced today that it has commissioned a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for Taylor Electric Cooperative.

Taylor Electric Cooperative, headquarters in Merkel, Texas, serves approximately 13,255 customers in portions of Taylor, Callahan, Jones, Nolan, Shackelford, Fisher, Coke and Eastland Counties. The cooperative maintains over 4,577 miles of energized line.TaylorLogoAlphaNoMatt

The new system features Survalent's highly available, dual-redundant, open-architecture system based on Windows Server 2008. The feature-rich system incorporates many of Survalent's open system applications, including: MultiSpeak 3.0 interfaces, real-time data replication to SQL, Virtual RTU, IED Wizard, Control Panel, and SCADA Add-in for MS Excel and Access.

"Our Virtual RTU application allows Taylor's G&T, Golden Spread Electric Cooperative (GSEC), to poll the new system as if it was a DNP 3.0 RTU," states Mike Bowdle, VP Sales and Marketing, Survalent Technology. "Each Virtual RTU references a Dataset of SCADA points whose values are polled by GSEC SCADA system. Points are easily added to the Virtual RTU with a drag-n-drop point browser. The Virtual RTU application includes all the editors for setting up the communication connections and how the data is formatted when polled by the other system. This makes short work out of setting up interoperability between separate systems."
