MISSISSAUGA, ON — July 28, 2010 — Survalent Technology, a leading provider of smart grid solutions to utilities, announced today that it has commissioned a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for Forked Deer Electric Cooperative.

FDECForked Deer Electric Cooperative, located in Halls, Tennessee, serves approximately 10,000 customers in Dryer, Lauderdale, Crockett and Haywood counties.

The new system features Survalent's highly available, open-architecture system based on Windows Server 2008. The system includes Survalent's IED Wizard, a powerful application that automates the creation of database points for Intelligent Electronic Devices (IED). The system also included Survalent's Control Panel application, which allows operators to interact with a graphical representation of the IED's front panel.

"It is particularly useful to represent an IED in the SCADA map using a representation of the IED's front panel with dynamic elements," states Mike Bowdle, VP Sales and Marketing, Survalent Technology. "Our Control Panel application simplifies the learning process, and helps to overcome the initial reaction to operating and IED from a computer rather than directly from the actual device. We welcome Forked Deer Electric Cooperative to our growing list of satisfied customers."
