MISSISSAUGA, ON — May 17, 2010 — Survalent Technology, a leading provider of smart grid solutions to utilities, announced today that it has commissioned a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for Marshall Municipal Utilities.
Marshall Municipal Utilities has been providing electric and water utility services to the City of Marshall for over 113 years. Marshall is a progressive community located in Southwest Minnesota approximately 30 miles east of the South Dakota border and 50 miles north of the Iowa border. Marshall has a population of 13,000 people and is the 2nd largest municipal utility in the state in terms of retail energy sales.
The new system features Survalent’s highly available, dual-redundant, open-architecture system based on Windows Server 2008. The feature-rich system incorporates many of Survalent’s open system applications, including: MultiSpeak 3.0 interfaces, real-time data replication to SQL, ICCP, Virtual RTU, Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and WebServer.
Survalent provided a turnkey solution which included Scout Station Controllers for data acquisition, database and graphics build for the water and electric systems, and training. “We welcome Marshall Municipal Utilities to our growing list of satisfied customers,” remarked Steve Mueller, President, Survalent Technology.
