MISSISSAUGA, ON — May 24, 2010 — Survalent Technology, a leading provider of smart grid solutions to utilities, announced today that it has commissioned a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for Northfork Electric Cooperative.
Northfork Electric Cooperative (NFEC), headquartered in Sayre Oklahoma, energizes over 2,500 miles of distribution line across Beckham, Roger Mills, Washita, Greer, Custer, Harmon and Dewey counties and serves over 3,100 members.
The new system features Survalent’s open-architecture system based on Windows Server 2008. The system includes several of Survalent’s applications, including: IED Wizard, Control Panel, and SCADA Add-in for MS Excel and Access.
“The growth of intelligent electronic devices (IED) in our market has steadily increased over the last decade,” states Mike Bowdle, VP Sales and Marketing, Survalent Technology. “We developed our Control Panel application several years ago in response to this market change; to act as a graphical container for the IED information. This allows SCADA operators to interact with the graphic representation of the IED, just like they were standing in front of it. Since it is a template, the Control Panels can be copied and pasted onto the operator screens, and assigned to a new IED with all the points already instantiated behind it.”
“The Control Panel application has been a great rapid development tool for our customers,” remarks Bowdle. “For NFEC, our European office developed the templates for their Joslyn PowerMax 100 controls. We also provide our customers to the tools to create their own templates, and we now have templates for most IED’s on the market. We welcome NFEC to our growing list of satisfied customers.”
