MISSISSAUGA, ON — June 21, 2011 — Survalent Technology, the most trusted provider of smart grid solutions for the control room, announced today that it has commissioned a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for Oxford Electric Department.
Oxford Electric Department, located in north central Mississippi and home of the University of Mississippi, serves approximately 8,335 customers and is a member of Tennessee Valley Public Power Association (TVPPA).
The new system features Survalent's highly available, open-architecture system based on Windows Server 2008. The system includes several of Survalent's open system applications, including: Command Sequencing, Master/Slave Alarm Suppression, Event Data Recorder, IED Wizard, Control Panel, Remote Alarm Annunciation, System Configuration Status, and SCADA Add-in for MS Excel and Access. The system also included MultiSpeak 3.0 interfaces for Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Load Management System (LMS), Engineering Analysis (EA), Outage Management System (OMS), Geographic Information System (GIS), and GIS-Batch Network Model Import.
The system was endorsed through Survalent's industry partner Hometown Connections, a utility services subsidiary of the American Public Power Association (APPA). "Oxford Electric Department is a great example of the growing trend we are seeing among the mid-size and smaller public power utilities that are adding SCADA capabilities to their distribution systems," states Steve VanderMeer, Sr. Vice-President, Planning and Marketing, Hometown Connections. "We are very excited by the functionality that Oxford Electric Department will be adding with this Survalent SCADA implementation."
