Survalent Technology Commissions New SCADA System for Dyersburg Electric System
MISSISSAUGA, ON — February 29, 2012 — Survalent Technology, the most trusted provider of smart grid solutions for the control room, announced today that it has commissioned a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system Dyersburg Electric System.
Dyersburg Electric System is a public utility owned by the City of Dyersburg, Tennessee. The City's electric operations began in 1902 when it bought an existing light & water plant. The distribution system has expanded into the surrounding rural area as demand for services developed. They currently serve over 12,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers, and are a member of the Tennessee Municipal Electric Power Association (TMEPA) and the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association (TVPPA).
The new system features Survalent’s highly available, open-architecture system based on Windows Server 2008. It includes several of Survalent's open system applications, including: WorldView, Command Sequencing, Event Data Recording, SCADA Add-In, IED Wizard and Control Panel, Remote Alarm Annunciation, Master/Slave Alarm Suppression, Power Factor Control, Voltage Reduction and Multispeak.
“Dyersburg Electric System selected Survalent Technology to replace their existing SCADA system to take advantage of new technologies, to improve reliability and to better integrate with other system improvements. Survalent provides not only a cost effective, easy-to-use SCADA system but offers many features not found by other SCADA suppliers,” states Steve Strauss, Vice President of Sales for the Eastern United States.
