Survalent Technology Commissions New SCADA System for City of Opelika Light and Power
MISSISSAUGA, ON — January 7, 2011 — Survalent Technology, the most trusted provider of core smart grid solutions to utilities, announced today that it has commissioned a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for City of Opelika Light and Power.
Opelika Light and Power serves approximately 11,300 customers in east central Alabama, and is a member of Alabama Municipal Electric Authority.
The new system features Survalent's dual-redundant open-architecture system based on Windows Server 2008. The system includes several of Survalent's open system applications, including: MultiSpeak 3.0, Event Data Recorder, IED Wizard, Control Panel, Remote Alarm Annunciation, Virtual RTU, and SCADA Add-in for MS Excel and Access.
The system was endorsed through Survalent's industry partner Hometown Connections, a utility services subsidiary of the American Public Power Association (APPA). "Hometown Connections is excited to see the growth in SCADA deployments across large and small public power systems," states Steve VanderMeer, Sr. Vice-President Planning and Marketing, Hometown Connections. "We hope that the APPA member discounts, combined with Survalent's public power-focused SCADA solution will make SCADA accessible to a much wider range of APPA's membership."
