Survalent Expands its Presence in the Boston Area with New SCADA Deployments

BRAMPTON, ON — August 31, 2016 —Survalent Technology, a leading provider of ADMS systems, announced that Middleton Electric Light Department (MELD) and Peabody Municipal Light Plant (PMLP) are the latest Boston-area utilities to implement the Survalent ONE™ SCADA system, joining the towns of Braintree, Reading, and Littleton.

Municipal utilities, whether replacing a system, or deploying the first SCADA, benefit from the complete feature set, ease of use, and affordability of Survalent ONETM. The system features a single user interface and database, which simplifies setup, configuration, and expansion, to reduce maintenance and support costs over the system’s lifetime. Survalent supports new customers with proven commissioning and training services, aimed at achieving rapid project outcomes, and relieving the pressure on operational resources. “Over 300 utility customers in the US, and over 500 utilities worldwide, have selected Survalent ONETM,” said Steve Strauss, Regional Vice President at Survalent Technology. “We put this experience, and some very specialized software tools, to work for our customers.”

Peabody Municipal Light Plant is the third largest of 40 municipal electric utilities in Massachusetts. PMLP has installed a dual redundant SCADA system, adding resiliency to its distribution network. Survalent employed its proven methodology and tools, to help the utility efficiently and cost-effectively migrate from its existing system, to a windows server platform with advanced functionality.

Middleton Electric Light Department chose the Survalent SCADA system to advance its electrical distribution network, with real-time monitoring and control, data visualization and alarms. With broad visibility into network performance and status, MELD can boost network efficiency, improve decision-making, and increase its speed of response to changing conditions.

“Working with municipal authorities in the Boston area and beyond, has been a unique experience,” said Steve Strauss. “When utilities are community-owned, there is a remarkable dedication to running the most efficient network possible, and delivering reliable power, with great service, all at the lowest cost. We’re proud to have assisted the two new utilities, Middleton Electric Light Department and Peabody Municipal Light Plant in deploying Survalent ONETM with turnkey commissioning services.”
