Crews can view the current network state, including the status of conductors, switches, transformers and meters, Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) information, device tags set by operators in the control room, and overlaid OMS information such as outage area, tickets, and jobs on their tablets and laptops. In the same application, they can create damage reports, report progress, and close jobs to keep control-room personnel apprised of their field activities in real time.
If crew are working in areas with limited connectivity, Polaris keeps crews productive by capturing updates locally when connectivity drops. Once service is restored, all data is automatically synced with the OMS, ensuring accuracy and continuity for crews working in remote or hard-to-reach areas.
Crews can ping meters to verify in real-time which customers are out, and confirm restoration status after work is completed. They can also manually set the status of non-telemetered devices upon task completion, enabling faster updating of outage’s restoration status.
