Course Offerings
Self-Paced Learning
This course offers another way to learn the valuable skills you need for your everyday work but at a pace that best suits your schedule. You will have access to full course materials, simulators and tutorial videos to help the learning process.
Self-Paced SurvalentONE SCADA System Level 1 Course
This course is offered as self-paced online training consisting of 8 modules. Students will be introduced to the operational concepts of real-time SCADA systems, and learn about the SurvalentONE SCADA application. This course will explore network communications, basic databases, and graphic user interfaces (GUI), in addition to trouble-shooting techniques, and maintenance procedures, and is suitable for students new to SCADA and those interested in a refresher.
A certificate of achievement will be earned by students who have successfully passed with an 80%+ mark.
Hands-On: No. The Self-Paced training includes tutorial materials only. It does not offer a virtual machine or live system as part of the course.
Prerequisite: Windows OS navigation skills. Experience with a Survalent SCADA system will be helpful.

Dynamic Voltage Regulation & Volt/Var Optimization
Dynamic Voltage Regulation (DVR) & Volt/Var Optimization (VVO/VAR) enablement course provides you with the skills to maintain feeder voltages within specified limits and reducing peak demand and management of optimal feeder voltage limits. VVO/VAR will provide you with the skills to analyze network conditions and create switch orders.

Fault Location Isolation & Service Restoration (FLISR)
The FLISR enablement course gives you the opportunity to interact with a FLISR map. You will edit a database, a map, and topological elements and then run some FLISR scenarios. You will also set up the necessary reports and switch orders for a FLISR environment.
Objective: The FLISR enablement course provides Utility Professionals with “hands on” experience so they can:
- Edit or Troubleshoot a system that has been upgraded to FLISR.
- Simulate FLISR events.
- Set up the necessary Switch Orders and Reports.

GIS Wizard Implementation
The GIS Wizard Implementation enablement course provides you with an overview of how Survalent’s GIS Wizard can move your GIS information (GDB) from ESRI to your Survalent database and map.
Objective: The GIS Wizard Implementation enablement course provides Utility Professionals with “hands on experience” so they can:
- Prepare GIS information for the GIS Wizard.
- Use GIS Wizard to convert the GIS Information into Survalent compliant tables that will be held by SQL Server.
- Move the data from SQL Server to Survalent’s import applications for refinement and importing.

Historical Datasets Including Alarm History
Historical Datasets Including Alarm History shows the many ways that historical information can be captured, stored, and presented using STC Explorer and SmartVU. The final hour of the course will focus on Alarms and Alarm History.
Objective: Historical Datasets Including Alarm History enablement course walks you through how to:
- Configure and use short-term (aka QT or Quick Trend) data.
- Set up datasets with options such as “Derived From”, Conditional Collection, and Replication.
- Report on and present historical information in maps (includes Trend Graphs with Trace Comparisons as well as “Ad Hoc” Graphs).
- Create Command Sequences to work with historical data including forecasting (linear, quadratic, cubic).
- Configure, Use, and Clear the “Alarm Held in History function” and review all Alarm Parameters.

Project Development System (PDS)
The Project Development System enablement course gives you the opportunity to create and publish a project using Survalent PDS. You will learn how to reserve database, map, and topological elements so they can be edited, published, and tracked. PDS will allow you and your team to work on simultaneous projects without impacting each other or the production environment.

SurvalentONE SCADA System Level 1
Over a 4 ½ day period, students will be introduced to the operational concepts of real-time SCADA systems, and learn about the SurvalentONE SCADA application. SurvalentONE SCADA System Level 2
The Level 2 course provides in-depth coverage of advanced SurvalentONE SCADA topics. Over a 4 ½ day period, students will learn to configure and trouble-shoot the application, and get hands on experience with database and graphics optimization, commands, and reports. Additional components covered included the IED Wizard control panel, SCADA server tools, and the virtual RTU.
Upon successful completion, students earn a Level 2 Certificate of Completion, and 40 PDH or CEU credit hours.
Pre-Requisite: SCADA System Training—Level 1. Equivalent proficiency must include comfort with development of DB & GUI files, which are covered in Level 1 and not repeated in Level 2.

SurvalentONE OMS
Administrators receive an intensive 4.5-day hands-on training experience, covering all aspects of the SurvalentONE OMS system. Participants will gain the experience and skills necessary to configure their own system. Successful students receive a Certificate of Completion with 32 PDH or CEU credit hours.
Pre-Requisites: Completion of Level 1 and Level 2 SCADA courses. Experience with an HMI or SCADA system is beneficial.

SurvalentONE DMS
Available in 1 or 2-week course options. This course provides an intensive hands-on training experience. Administrators of DMS systems will learn about the setup and maintenance of DMS components (FLISR, VVO, DVR or RLS). Successful participants will receive a Certificate of Completion with adequate PDH or CEU credit hours.
Pre-Requisites: Level 1 & Level 2 SCADA courses.

SurvalentONE FLISR
Over a 4.5 day period, students will be introduced to the configuration of FLISR (Fault, Location, Isolation, and Service Restoration). Also known as FDIR, FLISR works in conjunction with SCADA, telecommunications, and distribution automation devices to decrease the number of customers affected by a power outage. FLISR automatically opens and closes devices to isolate compromised sections of a line and then uses healthy sections of the system to restore energy distribution.
You’ll learn how to:
- Successfully deploy SurvalentONE FLISR
- Prepare & import GIS information
- Set up FLISR settings in SurvalentONE SCADA Explorer
- Create line sections and topology connections in SmartVU
- Configure FLISR modes
- Create reports
Successful students receive a certificate of completion with 40 PDH or CEU credit hours.
Pre-Requisites: SCADA System Level 1. Students must bring a notebook (Windows 8 OS or higher) and an external mouse to the class.

Additional Information
Registration fees are charged at the time of registration to secure a seat in the course. ALL FEES ARE CHARGED IN US DOLLARS.
Completed registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Registrants will receive an email confirmation of their registration.
Cancellation/Substitution Policy
- Cancellations must be received at least five (5) business days before the class start date. Otherwise, the full course fee applies.
- A student substitution is allowed, provided that an email is sent to us two (2) business days before the class start date.
- Survalent strives to deliver all classes; however, on rare occasions, cancellations are unavoidable. We will confirm or cancel each class by contacting each participant.
Travel & Associated Expenses
All travel arrangements are the participant’s responsibility and should not be made until the class that is being attended has officially been confirmed. Survalent assumes no responsibility for non-refundable travel arrangement losses resulting from class scheduling changes and/or cancellations.
